Using it with a static WordPress deployment : a perfect match
-
Works nicely, many hours of maintenance saved. Perfect for small businesses.
I have read the negative comments, and I have one suggestion to make : why bother with serving a standard version – dynamic – of WordPress, when dynamic features are outsourced to a Saas provider like Ecwid ? Go static ! You won’t regret it.
That’s a real question : Most of small websites don’t need to be dynamic anyway, it’s overkill. (No, don’t do it with a plugin! Don’t waste time. Use a Saas dedicated to static WP deployement, like HardyPress, it’s a killer. Affordable and 100% reliable, on Google Cloud. Must be one of the best kept secrets in the WP community.)No more upgrade chores. No more caching nightmares. No more anxiety regarding security. Your e-commerce site will be blazing fast for very little money. At BreizhPress, we transitioned all of our WooCommerce clients to Ecwid, going 100% static for the WP sites themselves, and we will never go back.
Don’t get me wrong, WooCommerce IS great. Incredibly flexible and feature rich, it covers all the possible ecommerce scenarios. But it’s way too heavy for small needs and small clients. Hours spent on “emergency support” are down to almost zero since we’ve been using Ecwid instead. Important point worth mentioning : there has been no negative impact on SEO. None, whatsoever. The latest version of the Ecwid plugin is integrated with Gutenberg, and is now really flexible. Matt Mullenweg actually presented it live, on screen, during WordCamp US 2019, as a great example of complex integration. What’s not to love ?
