• If I’ve ever switched to the HTML editor (of TinyMCE) when writing a post, it shows up on the main page without any paragraphs although the visual editor shows it correctly. This does not happen if I only use the visual editor for a post.

I can work around this by manually entering p tags in the HTML editor and never switching back to visual mode, but that obviously sucks.

(I’ve first noticed this when embedding a YouTube object, but it now happens all the time. I believe it didn’t always behave this way.)

    Any ideas?

  • It would be helpful to at least read a few other posts before entering one of your own that exactly duplicates questions others have had.

It has been answered dozens of time that you should NOT switch back and forth between the CODE and VISUAL editors when posting, because what you are describing is exactly what will happen.

Use one or the other – not both.

But sometimes you really have to go to the HTML editor side to edit something specifically and it’s becoming extremely annoying to have code stripped out of nicely formatted posts.

I’m seeing it bad enough that the formatting on some posts is reverting all by itself, without anyone editing the post and it suddenly turns into a chunk of text.

Considering there’s threads on this that are 10 months old, it would be nice it it were fixed.

The visual editor exists – as the codex and other answers point out – because some users of WP don’t know code, so it makes it easy for them to post basic info. If one knows some code and wishes to create more elaborate posts – they should use the code editor and be done with it. I doubt that will change, or be “fixed”, because clearly the WP crew doesn’t think it’s “broke.”

I’d like to point out this other post by me because I’m afraid I got the problem ass-backwards when I started this thread.
