I have a problem trying to display a subset of a gallery. I use the nggallery plugin and in my WordPress static news page use the call: <a
“href=”https://www.example.com/?page_id=11&album=1&gallery=46”> to display the full gallery. It works great however I like to create a news item which only shows a subset of the gallery. I uploaded the pictures and used the nggallery manager to add tags “2013Jul17” to those pictures in gallery ’46’ that I want displayed. I could not find any method to specify the tags in the href statment. If I was creating a webpage I know that the [nggtags gallery=2013Jul17] would work but I prefer that hitting “here” displays my gallery webpage (=11) with the 20+ pictures. Displaying the full gallery of 50+ pictures is fine in a photo gallery but the news posting only refers to those 20 pictures.
Please help me is there a way to use the wordpress nggallery tags in a href statement?

thanks, I tried that but it shows all my galleries. The gallerytag did not work. It’s not really a gallery tag but a picture tag.

Right, should have mentioned: you need to put the [tagcloud] shortcode on the target page. NB: it will of course show a tag cloud when loaded without the gallerytag query parameter!

Right on. I created a new webpage called ‘Selected Photos’ so my normal gallery page didn’t show the tags. Now the gallerytag using the new webpage only showed the pictures I wanted.

Thank you webaware!

No worries. Be sure to test this again when NG 2.0 comes out, as they will have new shortcodes and some old, legacy stuff might work a little differently.

cheers,
Ross
