    Hi,
I have setup the plugin with great pleasure, and I first thought it does exactly what I like: 1> accept GA tracking a priori from first access and first page
2> but disable GA if user refuses cookies (with option “Reload page to disable services”)
3> yet accept GA when use scrolls down (with option “Implicit consent on scroll”)

However, I ‘ve had to change my GA setup using Google Tag Manager (and DuracellTomi plugin). And now I don’t get it to work as I’d like:
    – If I don’t tick “Block Google Tag Manager”, then visits are tracked, even when user refuses cookies.
    – If I tick both “Block Google Tag Manager”, and although I also ticked “Implicit consent on scroll”, visits are not tracked, even when scrolling, and even when clicking, unless I explicitly say “accept cookies”. And actually, even so, it does not seem to be trackign anything.

I wonder if this is the way it is meant to work – or if I could manage to reach the desired behaviour. May be I need to change something to my GTM setup?

    Thanks a lot
    Agnes

PS: I read in the logic settings of the plugin that

“this plugin is compatible with GTM: it fires custom events (“statisticsCookiesEnabled”, “statisticsCookiesDisabled”, “profilingCookiesEnabled”, “profilingCookiesDisabled”) which could be used in GTM to properly unlock services. ”
Could you please outline what should be the proper setup to design in GTM?

Else, I see in the changelog somewhere “Solved a compatibility problem with “Google Tag Manager by DuracellTomi” plugin.”
Would you say of there is anything special to take into account when using that Duracelltomi GTM plugin?

@agneslesagegmailcom I am sorry for the delay in answering to you.

I am sorry but I am not sure to understand well the problem.

1> accept GA tracking a priori from first access and first page

Smart Cookie Kit should block a priori. GA should not be blocked only if it is anonymized.

If I don’t tick “Block Google Tag Manager”, then visits are tracked, even when user refuses cookies.

This is correct. If you don’t tick “Block GTM”, the way GA works depends on how you have configured GTM!
Please, read the next point to get more details about this.

If I tick both “Block Google Tag Manager”, and although I also ticked “Implicit consent on scroll”, visits are not tracked, even when scrolling, and even when clicking, unless I explicitly say “accept cookies”

The “implicit consent” works only the first time a user visits the site. To be more precise: it works only when there is not a previous cookie preference from the user. If a user refuses cookies, the implicit consent will be bypassed, as the user has choosed to get the cookies disabled. The “implicit consent” will trigger the acceptance only if the user ignores the banner and starts to scroll.
So, this issue could depend on the fact that, testing the plugin, you have previously refused cookies.

Would you say of there is anything special to take into account when using that Duracelltomi GTM plugin?

There is no need to take special configurations because I have solved that issue to make plugins work well togheter ??

Could you please outline what should be the proper setup to design in GTM?

GTM can be used to do a lot of work (tracking, customizations, …) with its tags, so I can’t decide to block GTM for all. Blocking GTM or not depends on how GTM is used on a specific site. If GTM fires only tracking codes, the site admin can decide to block GTM with my plugin. If GTM is used for stuffs that do not depend on cookie preferences, the site admin should manage the situation in a different way. The proper way, in this situation, is to trigger the GTM Tags that contains tracking codes when specific custom events occurs (“statisticsCookiesEnabled” and “profilingCookiesEnabled”): you can refer to this guide: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/7679219).
In addition to the events that “tells” to GTM that cookies are accepted, the plugin fires others events when cookies are refused.

Is it a bit more clear? ??
    Let me know. Nicola.

Thanks a lot, this is complicate… but more clear. (or more clear – yet still complicate ??
And I have not managed to get GTM work together with this.
Do you or someone you know would know provide the service and help me setup GTM properly according to my wishes..?

I’d like to come back to this issue:

If I tick both “Block Google Tag Manager”, and although I also ticked “Implicit consent on scroll”, visits are not tracked, even when scrolling, and even when clicking, unless I explicitly say “accept cookies”
    >> You said: The “implicit consent” works only the first time a user visits the site.

I have now ticked “block GTM” in the settings.
I go back to my web site. I delete previous cookies, load the page. The banner for accepting cookies displays. I don’t say “accept” nor “refuse”, but I scroll down, and click to another page. I now have a cookie that says ‘{“technical”:true,”statistics”:true,”profiling”:true}’, but nothing shows in my real time google analytics dashboard. I think this is because GTM has not been enabled based on implicit consent as I would xpect.
I think this would work fine for me, only if I could enable GTM based on implicit consent (scroll or click). Is there any chance to do that?

PS: Actually, instead of getting GTM work on implicit content, I guess I should really get GTM properly configured for both statistical and profiling cookies. I made some tst tat seem to work. I’ll open a new thread to sollicite your help and make sure I use the proper logic related to the one of the plugin.

    Hello @agneslesagegmailcom,
    I red all your updates.

Ok, I’ll mark this thread as solved and answer to the other ticket, so wi will check your GTM setup.

    Nicola.
