Using Google Drive as repository for downloadable files in WooCommerc
-
I’ve been trying to use my Google Drive as a repository for downloadable files for use in WooCommerce (WC). For a product I have entered the link where it is on Google Drive but when testing it out on WC all it shows in the Order Details section is Download: View (rather than the actual file to be downloaded).

Don’t bump – patience.

Can you screenshot that, and the settings in backend? Sounds like the ‘title’ is missing.
Mike. I’ve uploaded a screenshot of the front end.
What do you want to see from the backend settings? I can’t see any Title settings
Where you input the URL to the download – there should be a file and title box.

The ‘dr joseph’ name should be what is clickable. The source handles this fine, https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/blob/847dea6a2d1e5407fef95a99b621c0bea66b0076/includes/abstracts/abstract-wc-order.php#L2264 and I tested a link to be sure.
So this is either being overridden by a plugin, or the view you screenshot on the frontend is being changed or output by something else.
Can you test another theme, or disable other WooCommerce addons temporarily?
the dr joseph bit is clickable. When I click it, it downloads a 17kb file called ‘open’. My PC does not recognise it and doesn’t do anything when you click it.
tried disabling all other WC plugins. Still the same.
On your screenshot I see the text “open”, not Dr Jo…
Anyhow, the link is not going to work unless its a direct download link. Linking to the google docs ‘share’ page is not going to work.
In Google Drive I simply right clicked the file and highlighted ‘Get Shareable Link’. This is the link I have entered for my product.
Are you saying that simply Google Drive won’t work as a direct download link? If so, is there a list of providers that will work?
It has to be a direct link, so for instance if you open it and you see a page on google drive with the share links etc, thats not going to work.
If so, is there a list of providers that will work?
You could just host it on our own site? You don’t need to use an external store.
Files are HD videos that are over the 128M limit for my webhost. Can you recommend how I link it directly on a 3rd party file hosting service please?
Did you look into the above google docs link yet?
