    Hello,

I have recently switched to Flywheel for hosting and have noticed that my Child Theme Configurator now has a permission error message. The message is as follows:

“This Child Theme is not owned by your website account. It may have been created by a prior version of this plugin or by another program. Moving forward, it must be owned by your website account to make changes. Child Theme Configurator will attempt to correct this when you click the button below.”

    Once the button is clicked:

    “Child Theme files modified successfully.”

The problem is that the first message doesn’t go away. I am using flywheel to host a few sites, and other hosting companies for a few others. I only have this message on the Flywheel hosted sites. Naturally I contacted them, they looked into the problem and suggested I contact you directly.

Is this a common issue? Is there anything I can do about it?

I’d appreciate any and all help in the matter,

    Thanks.

CTC is checking to see if the child theme directory and files have the same owner as WordPress itself.

If not, this is usually an indication that files have been generated by the webserver without using the WP_Filesystem to maintain correct ownership and permissions.

What may be happening here is a scenario that we did not account for when we emplemented this feature, so it will be useful to find out more about your Flywheel intance to find an appropriate fix. If it is happening for you it may be happening for others.

Changed the test to check the theme root against the child theme and it passes now.
