I have 100’s of job postings that are generated from my HR software. Unfortunately, the job postings are not searchable (i.e. I do not have a search bar on my web page).

Is it possible to use the plugin that has a search capability without having to manually regenerate the job description using the plugin features?

I guess I’m looking for something that would utilize the existing attributes of the HR generated post.

I see many themes that have the search engine capability but all seem to require using their product to generate the positions. The positions are already built ??

    Any insights would be appreciated.

    Hi @gisboy !

If I understand correctly, you have job posts that were added to your site (WPJM) by your HR software.

WP Job Manager does have a default search that can be enabled or disabled with a shortcode (see here: https://wpjobmanager.com/document/shortcode-reference/). Most themes that have a search option are extending the existing WP Job Manager search. Some add their own search features or use other search plugins. But, in any case, if you have jobs in your WP Job Manager powered site, at least the basic search should work (for example on a page with [jobs] shortcode).

Thanks for the response bindlegirl! No positions have been added yet. I just have a large collection of open positions that were generated from a non-Wordpress HR software tool. I’ve since chosen a very basic Astra WordPress theme (without any type of search engine) and was thinking I might figure out how to leverage a plugin later (even if it meant some customization).

So, if I’m tracking correctly, if I had used a theme that leverages the WP Job Manager I could somehow leverage the basic search capability?

I guess the next challenge would be for me to figure out how I would expose those job postings to my non-WPJM WordPress theme from the 3rd party’s source embed code. (FYI… the 3rd party application is bambooHR… a cloud-based system.

Not expecting to drag you down into the quagmire but I really appreciate the insight. I think I know where I stand at the moment.

You don’t need any special themes to use the WP Job Manager search. It works out of the box when you install the plugin. However, there are themes (and plugins) that extend the default search feature.
