• I am using the free v of Pageines Platform theme and I have a space issue in my nav bar section. It is cluttered and I have a portion of large space to the right where the search bar was but I removed that long ago including the entire code. (Don’t panic! I have it in a safe spot) I will be adding at least 3 more items to my primary menu and I do not really know what to do short of hiring someone to re configure the theme code. It only supports 3 menus as well footer, links and primary and I have yet to find a plugin that is what I am looking for. I have downloaded custom page menus but it’s not really what I am looking for. URL

You should be able to spread out your menu into the empty space by just altering the menu CSS. You will want to create a child theme in which to keep your changes. Various browsers have CSS tools to help you determine which directives actually control the element you’re interested in, and allow you to test edit various directives to see if your edit does what you want, without actually editing the original file. It’s nearly impossible to figure out WP CSS without such a tool.

But if you are running up against limitations like the number of menus supported, you may need to find a theme that better fits your needs. While it’s possible to expand the support by hacking the theme code, it can be simple, or really involved, no way to know. Best to have a theme that functions the way you want, and only need to customize it to alter the look, not the function.

Yes but is there any way to transfer everything I have been building up and modifying including plugins and widgets since last Sept to the new theme. If it would have to be done manually post by post and custom sidebar by custom sidebar I would much rather pay a few hundred to have someone take care of it for me.

It depends on how modular your code is and how much is theme specific, it can be fairly painless or a nightmare. If it really is a nightmare, it may take much more than a few hundred to get it done.

Maybe it’s best to look into expanding your current theme’s menu support, maybe you’ll get a feel for which task is less onerous.
