    Hello,
I am using WP User Frontend version 2.4.1 with WordPress 4.7.2. One of my users with the Editor role went to a page on the front end of the website and clicked the Edit Page link in the toolbar. The page opened in the WP User Frontend edit page. He made a change to the page content and tried to save it. He couldn’t submit the change without choosing a category (because I set category as required in the WPUF form) so he choose a category. When the Update button was clicked, the page was somehow converted to a post!

I’m not sure how this is even possible but I have confirmed it on several different pages. The converted pages are displayed in the post archive and have been relocated from Pages > All Pages to Posts > All Posts in the admin area.

I changed my theme to Twenty Fifteen and deactivated all plugins except for WPUF and still had the problem. Thank you for any help you can give.

@knittingtheweb Please make sure that you have selected Yes for Override the post edit link option.

If it is already selected then the editor can edit the posts from the frontend, not the page. The user should navigate to wp-admin to edit the page.

    Thank you

@wedevs Thanks for your reply. I had already selected Yes for “Override the post edit link.” Just to be clear, the problem occurs when Editors click the Edit Page link (the one with the pencil icon in the black WP toolbar at the top of the screen on the front end). The page opens in the WPUF edit page and upon submitting, the page is converted to a post.

I have warned my editors not to use the Edit Page link on the front end, but rather to go to wp-admin to edit pages. But the implications of them forgetting that warning are serious (pages turned into posts and having to be fixed by me, when and if they notice what happened). I thought perhaps this was a bug that could be fixed.

@wedevs, not sure if you meant to reply to me as you mentioned someone else in your reply?

Anyway, my issue has not been resolved. Editors can still click the Edit Page link while viewing a page on the front end, the WPUF edit form is then displayed, and if the editor makes any changes and submits the form, the PAGE is converted to a POST.

The page then needs to be recreated and the post deleted.

Even though I had warned my editors not to edit pages on the front end, one of them forgot. He edited one of our site’s most important pages on the front end and it was converted to a post. It was a big headache because all of the links to the page that was edited were broken when it was converted to a post. After recreating the page, I then had to find and fix every broken link.

@knittingtheweb, I am really sorry for my previous reply, mistakenly I replied here.

It seems the editor does not redirect to wp-admin while editing a page. To fix this issue you need to enable the admin area access for editors too. Please navigate to wp-admin > User Frontend > Settings > General Options > Admin area access. Select Admins, Editors option & save the settings. Now, check on the frontend.

@wedevs, you are correct, the editor is not redirecting to wp-admin for page editing. I checked the setting you referred to; it was already set to Admin area access > Admins, Editors, Authors. But no redirection is occurring.
