Using Duplicator for site versions?
-
Hi there Cory,
I’ve been using Duplicator for a few years now and couldn’t imagine my sites without it!!!
I need a suggestion for the following please:
I often work with clients where I develop a few different versions of their websites for them to see and decide which version they like best.
So for example I will have one local installation called ‘theirsite.com’ then another ‘theirsiteversion2.com’. Each one of them uses the same Theme -but varies in design, colors etc.
If they decide to go with ‘theirsiteversion2’ I would need to somehow either re-create this site in a new installation with the correct DB name, (theirsite), or try and change db name of ‘version2’, (to ‘theirsite’), drop original db in php.MyAdmin and change ‘version2’ to the name of the main db I want, then change it in wp-config file. I tried this yesterday mostly out of curiosity and it did not work. I got all sorts of errors. What do you suggest I do for cases like this? Is there a way to use Duplicator installs effectively for version controls? So if I decide to use installation called ‘version2’ I can then rename it as the main ‘theirsite’ DB?
Hope I’m making sense ??
Thank you very much for your time..
