• Hello,

I’d like to use WordPress more as a database to create a web application that would categorize each entry (or post) in several categories… like office location, issue type, and one or two others.

Is this possible to do using custom fields? In other words, if I declare and define all these custom fields that are consistant, is it possible to search using these fields?

I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty in working with the templates but there is so much to look at.

    thanks!

  • If you do that, you may need to construct your own SQL query to get the Posts. Because, as far as I know there’s no built-in function to get Posts by custom-field, or search custom field.

Nonetheless, if you’re familiar with SQL, it’s pretty much feasible.

However, I was wondering if you couldn’t just assign multiple categories to a Post?
