I do not know how to use collapse-o-matic with the current version of WP (5.+, with blocks). What I am trying to do unsucessfully thus far is to have the contents of one block (title text) be the trigger text and the next several paragraphs be the hidden content. No luck thus far. I just don’t see how to put this all together. If someone could just show me how this is done it would be very helpful. And do I do this on the html edit page or the edit visually page? Many thanks for your help.

    [expand title=”trigger text”]hidden content[/expand]

Contents of one block triggering another would only work using the roll-your-own method. If you want to use the shortcode you posted:

    [expand title="trigger text"]hidden content[/expand]

try placing it in a short-code block, and make sure the quotes (") are quotes and not ‘curly-quotes’.

    Dear twinpictures,
Thank you very much for the helpful and prompt reply to my question which was just what I needed. You might add this additional fact (that the block you must use is the shortcode block, which is found under the widgets section of blocks) to the Collapse-o-matic section of our WP software widgets section. Understanding this necessary step would be helpful to people who are using Collapse-o-matic for the first time. Collapse-o-matic is quite a useful plugin making long articles much more accessible. Thanks!
