I am contemplating to replace Joom “WP Media folder” with your plugin.

I have a different plugin in use which creates a “document gallery” page based on the folders I put my media files in:
Currently, if I place a file in a folder “MyGalleryFolder”, I then can build my gallery page with a simple shortcode, like “[Gallery category=WPMF-MyGalleryFolder] – wich “WPMF-MyGalleryFolder” being a category assigned to my files by the media folder plugin.

Is this something I can do with your plugin, too, are you also assigning categories to media files based on the folder I put the file into? If so, what is the naming convention?

    Thanks a lot!

P.S.: Can I/How can I migrate my existing folders into your structure?

    Hey @braunsch ,

    Thanks for your comment!
I’m afraid we don’t really have this document gallery feature (although it sounds great so I’ll be sending it to our product manager for further investigation), and the Folders plug-in doesn’t assign categories to media files based on the folder the files are into. You can however see what folder each photo is in when you’re in the list view. The good news is we have an import functionality for the WP Media Folder plug-in, meaning your folders and assigned files will automatically be imported to Folders! Please let me know if this helps? You can also always reach me at [email protected] for further assistance ??

    Thank you Karina –

I have the plugin to create the document gallery, that’s not the problem, no need to re-invent it.

What I do need is the concept of assigning categories to the media files reflecting the folders the files are in. That way, I can pick files from a specific folder from everywhere in WordPress, not only from within the folder plugin (e.g. my gallery plugin can read the folders and make a gallery based on all files that I put into a specific folder, no additional action needed).

    Thank you for yourquick reply!
