• Can anyone direct me to info. on how to create an RSS feed with my WordPress blog.

I know how to create an RSS feed…but I am trying to understand if WordPress will automatically update my feed…

Ie I make a new post in my blog…so what is the next step so this post is added to my feed?

    Thx

  • It’s made by wp, and updated by wp.

Look at the bottom of your menu.

WordPress makes an rss feed automatically

    Ok I understand.

So I will have my readers add:

    https://www.mysite.com/wordpress/wp-rss2.php

    to their news feed?

Is there a way to control how many posts are in each feed?

Ie if I have 30 posts a month, I don’t want all 30 showing up in the feed.

    Thx

In the admin panel under Options under Reading, there are 2 options for “Syndication Feeds”
Option 1 is “Show the most recent posts” and allows you to set the number of posts to appear in your feed.
Option 2 is “For each article, show” and allows you to choose whether the feed has the full text of your posts or just a summary.

I’m using 1.5-gamma 2005-02-12 for my notebooks, which I just today ‘upgraded’ from MT to Word Press (have been using Word Press for my regular blog for quite a while).

Now while https://blog.morgaine-lefaye.net/feed/ does display 10 posts in the feed, as indicated in the admin panel, I have a problem with my notebooks, as the feed is only displaying 1 single post, e.g. https://notebooks.morgaine-lefaye.net/poetry/feed/.

As for the posts themselves, on my blog I show 5 posts on the frontpage, on the notebooks only 1. Feeds are however both set to 10.

One more thing, for my blog I’m using 1.5-beta-1 2005-01-28.

Anyone any idea as to why the feed for my notebooks is showing only 1 single entry?

If I change the number of posts to be shown on the frontpage of that notebook, I get more items in my feed. This is NOT something I would want to do though. Anyone any idea as to how I can make the feed behave as expected?

Check Options/Reading. What do you have set for Syndication Feeds/Show the most recent:?

As I thought I explained clearly, I had that set to 10 posts. ‘Syndication feeds, Show the most recent 10 posts, For each article, show Full text’.

Now, when I have set ‘Blog pages, Show at most’ to 1 post, I only have 1 post in my feed as well. Do I temporarily change ‘Blog pages, Show at most’ to 10 posts, there are more posts in my feed as well, diappearing as soon as I put it back to 1 post (on the blog, that is, number of entries in the feed, always on 10).

    Sounds a tad buggy, no?

Just in case, I’ve submitted this to the bugtracker:

I would like to post rss feeds on pages I create. With the include php. I have found plugin that enables me to do this. But it displays the rss feed below the sidebar in the body instead of next to it. How can I fix this to dispay correctly. Example: https://www.newlifepub.com/blog/?page_id=3
