Using a widget across a multisite?

  • Hi there. I have a multisite setup and would like to add the same widget to both sites. I created a widget in one site, and the shortcode works fine on that one, but if I insert it on the other it doesn’t appear. I instead just get the text “Widget not in any sidebars”.

    I’m assuming that this is because the plugin can’t read a widget from one site to the other, but is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

    Probably because wp stores widgets for each site separately and each site has it’s own sidebars. The wp function to execute the widget with it’s stored settings, does not give one a way to say which site. It assumes it is always the current site. So not possible for the plugin to do anything about that.

    You’d be better off coding the widget into your theme perhaps?
