• I followed the instructions from one of the community members yet the results were not 100%. All that displayed from the selected static page was the featured image, none of the content. Then it appeared to randomly include content from the other pages.

“If you want a more “static” page to be displayed on your homepage (instead of your latest blog posts), created your dedicated PAGE, then go to?SETTINGS => READING, and under?“Your Homepage Displays As”, select the page you created.”

All I want is for visitors to my site when the go to https://www.tezoona.com is to land on the following page: https://tezoona.com/home/ – BUT to have the layout you get when you set it as a static page – plus the content. I don’t need it to
    a) eliminate the actual content from the page and just show an empty box
    b) flow to content from the other pages (and where is the order coming from when it does that?)

I am sure there is a simple solution – your help is appreciated!!! Thank you.
    Jo

If you set a page to be displayed as your static homepage, the entire page — exactly as you see it before the change — becomes your homepage.

You can do some custom styling (by targeting the additional .home body class), but the content should be exactly the same… unless your active theme or some 3rd-party page builder plugin is changing the default behaviour of WordPress.

Right now, the “MISSION” page (https://tezoona.com/home/) is NOT set as the static homepage in SETTINGS => READING, and under “Your Homepage Displays As”.

If you set the page as the static homepage, I could take a look to see if I can figure out what’s going on and why the page becomes an “empty box”.

I appreciate you getting back to me and I have set the MISSION page again as the static page. A few things in the process seem to not be working as a result.

    • the content from the MISSION page no longer displays
    • When I click on the Blog menu link it doesn’t go to anywhere
    • The page is displaying
      • About Jo – I don’t want this on this page
      • Testimonials – I do have some that I would like to insert but have no idea how!!!
      • Reviews – but showing social media – huh?
      • Then it shows latest from the blog – and that appears to be the only way to get to the blog
      • Get in touch today – some front page thing that I don’t know how it got there or works – but i’d like to
    • I would really like the Blog Menu link to work too.

I appreciate any advice and instructions you can provide. Thank you in advance!

Indeed, your active theme is overriding the default WordPress behaviour!

I installed the Vandana theme to test, and, yes, the theme completely ignores the content from the page configured as the static homepage and, instead, provides various sections to control what appears on the homepage. Indeed, the theme’s setup instructions says to leave this static page blank.

If you want to stick to this theme, then kindly go to APPEARANCE => CUSTOMIZE => FRONT PAGE SETTINGS and configure the content that goes into the various sections on the homepage. You can even toggle some of them ON/OFF.

If you prefer the default WordPress behaviour of simply displaying the content of the page configured as your static homepage, then I’m afraid you’ll need to change your active theme.

so you can help the next person. There is another work-around within customize. – select add a widget/add a block… then I just copied the html and content from the ‘page’ and pasted it into the block. And now I have sort of what I want ??

    There is another work-around within customize. – select add a widget/add a block…

That’s all features of the particular theme you’re using though ??
