EDIT: I resolved this myself. After a while I had the same problem happen without the dash. It appears that the problem wasn’t the dashes at all, but that the title text was too long for it to fit on the image, and that is what froze it up. By simply changing the font size or the width of the generated featured image dimensions (I’d initially set the dimensions to 180X180 in the plugin options), the ‘problem’ disappeared and the format I was trying to achieve with the dashes has since started appearing on the generated featured images. Figured I’d make a notation here for those who might encounter similar issues…

    Original problem I was experiencing:

I’ve been able to reproduce this consistently.

The plugin works fantastic except when I use a dash in the title of the post (and am generating the featured image using the title).

All of the titles for my posts on my site are in the exact same format using numbers and dashes for year, month and day, such as:

2016-06-30 for the current date, 2016-06-29 for yesterday, etc..

It seems that so long as I do not have any dashes in my post title then the featured image is generated flawlessly.

Is there a workaround for this because this plugin is absolutely perfect in all other regards and my post titles cannot change.

So many thanks for your work! I love plugins like this one that do a specific task so wonderfully.

Hi! Glad the plugin is beneficial to you!

Yes, extremely long titles will cause the plugin to time-out, especially when the image dimensions are small. I’ve been thinking about how to possibly prevent time-outs, but the plugin could be configured so many ways that it would be nearly impossible (considering font sizes, image dimensions, padding, etc). But I will continue to think on it.

Anyway, glad you were able to get it figured out.

    Good news!

The next version of the plugin (coming out in the next few days) will have the option to set a maximum number of characters to be written to the image.

This will allow you to write, say, the first 50 or 100 (or however many) characters of the Post Title to the image, and the plugin will not stall or timeout.

    Hope this helps!
