Users with custom role not seen in users list

We are using AAM to create a custom role for users in our multisite. The custom role has capabilities added to it which allows the user to do most things an editor can do, with some tweaks.
Recently I noticed that when viewing the users list, any user with our custom role is not shown in the list, even though the user count still counts them. Here’s a screenshot to help explain:
When changing a user’s role to something else, they show up in the list again. It’s only when the user is assigned our custom role.
Is there some capability or setting that I’m missing in order to see the users in the list?
