users don’t receive password

  • Users are not receiving a password when they register. Says registration complete and that they will receive a password, but they do not.

    ALSO…….

    We are not receiving notification of a new user. If we check users in the admin, the new users are there, but we do not receive an email notification that they joined.

    Please help…………we know nothing about WordPress.

    if you are unable to discern what the link is talking about .. why are you here? Nothing anyone says is going to make sense, if you dont understand a plugin’s page.

    Contact your host, ask them is mail() is enabled.

    I already contacted my host and they said yes mail()was enabled.

    I also already tried switching to [email protected] in the General Settings (which was another suggestion given to others with this same problem), but that didn’t work for me either.

    I don’t know about SMPT or PHP mail() functions…………..sorry for my ignorance.

    I am here because I just built a site with some 30 pages and needed a blog. I was told wordpress would be a breeze to set up, which it was….it just doesn’t function.

    Ive re-read my earlier reply to you about 20 times now and was waiting till you came back to apologize. It reads wrong; I know why you are are – and appreciate it.

    What happens when you use the lost your password on the blog? are you given a friendly message telling you to check your mail, or do you get an error message?

    whats the url to your blog? who is your host (if you dont want to share the url)?

    Sorry if I read you wrong……

    The host is GoDadddy…..they have said everything is fine on their end and will not help me further with this.

    Here is the message on screen if you try “lost password”:

    The e-mail could not be sent.
    Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…

    ok, thats the problem. you need to use the plugin that you were pointed to Michael above.

    follow the instruections that come with it, they explain how to set it up.
