After updating to vers.118 of simple URL’s , now none of our editors (user role Editor) can EDIT any of our posts.
(I – logged in as Admin can edit just fine).

When they click on Edit post (Blockeditor) or Edit Post (Classic Editor) in the All Post Backend, they are not redirected to any editor window.

I ran inspect – console in my browser and see the following error message:

DevTools failed to load source map: Could not load content for https://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-urls/admin/assets/js/jsrender.min.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

I did a rollback to version 117 of simple URL’s and all works again.

Please let me know what we can do to fix this.

Thank for your help in advance.

@spabav Thank you for the detailed write-up! That’s far from what we want to happen, and I’ll make sure that gets taken care of it.

I’ve opened a ticket with our devs, and we’ll investigate this issue with v118.

I’m glad to hear that reverting to v117 did the trick and will send a message as soon as v119 is released with your fix.

    Thanks again!

    Hello again, @spabav!

We again wanted to thank you for bringing this to our attention, and also thank you for your patience while we’ve been working with the devs. We are so happy to have you as a part of the Lasso team!

Here to report that for the time being, custom user permissions are an exclusive feature of Lasso Pro.

However if you should need any other assistance or have any other feedback, we are absolutely here to help.

We thank you for your continued understanding, and appreciate you deeply!

    Hello @lassoteam ,
I might not understand what you saying.

Have you fixed the bug Lasso vers 118 is creating in the editor or do I have to stay in vers 117 forever?

It is obviously a bug created in vers 118 which we do not see in vers 117 and has nothing to do with custom user permission.
Lasso works in vers 117 but Lasso crashes in vers 118.

Please let me know if you plan on fixing this bug or if you advice us to stay in vers 117?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi again @spabav ??
Thanks for reaching out, and for hanging by for a reply.

To clarify: in the new version v118, the permissions you are looking for are for paid users only, so not a bug but instead just not possible!

If you are not looking to upgrade your subscription, totally fine! Completely your decision, and if version 117 suits your needs then feel free to stick with that ??

Ok, Thank You @lassoteam for the final clarification.

So you are saying – you “update” from version 117 to version 118 , but hey from now on all your editors and writers cant use wordpress edit post anymore, so you better buy the “lasso pro” version, so you can keep on using wordpress.

    Good, i think i understand.

    Hey @spabav,
Just wanted to say I hear you, and I hear your frustrations. Admittedly, while we do think what we are offering here at LassoLite is awesome as is, we’re still growing and learning every day.

We’re striving to make this a killer free tool for people that are just starting out, so we take any feedback seriously.

Could we do something to make this better?

I’ve just discovered that it was your plugin (v118 +) that don’t let my authors edit their own content (article, custom post type, etc…).

I think that you can do whatever you want with your own custom post type (simple URLs) but get in control of default WordPress capabilities is really wrong.

My two cents. Thank you for this tool that was great until now.

    Hi yall,

This issue persists today. For a yearly update I assigned and editor to update some pages and she was not able to edit any.

It took me a while to figure out the simple urls plugin was the cause.

Ofcourse you need to switch on and off all plugins to troubleshoot, but I did not think this little one that I use for quite some time was causing it.

I tried installing a user role plugin and even tried different php versions, tried resetting the default user roles, removing all custom user roles.

Problem has to do with the custom post types created and somehow there is a conflict with the editor role here. With my admin role I have no problems at all.

PLease fix this asap so I can do not have to look for another solution to manage my affiliate links.
