Users appearing on my Admin page

What do you have configured for the New User Default Role in Settings -> General?

It is set as Administrator. How can I set it so no one can become a User without my permission?

Oh good grief! Set it to Subscriber now! Then go through all of the users on your site and either delete theme or demote them to Subscriber status. finally, in Settings -> General -> Membership, uncheck “Anyone can register” and save your changes.

Actually I did find the place where anyone can register and unchecked it, but when I hit the button for Save the Site, it sent me to a bad page!

Fairly weird, I say. I’ll try it all again.

General rule of thumb: A very big dose of paranoia is an extremely useful tool in web publishing generally. Always lock everything down as tight as you can initially and only ease up on the restrictions if you are absolutely sure that this will not pose any danger to you.

Thanks, I have other blogs but haven’t had a problem with them. However, I will go through them and do as you suggest.
