Username field required at checkout

After the latest updates, there’s a new field on my checkout form that I can’t figure out how to turn off/get rid of. Only guest checkout is allowed; no user accounts or log ins.
The first field shown on my checkout page is now “Username or Email Address” and it’s marked required. How/where do I find that to turn it off?? I’ve been digging in the php files and the Checkout Field Editor for Woocommerce plugin to no avail. Help!

I understand that after updates on your site, there is a new required field on the checkout page, asking for “customer username or email address”, however, only guest checkout is enabled within your sites settings, is this correct?
I have gone to your site and see what you mean, as the checkout page requires an email address or username:
This is not something I am able to reproduce on my test site which uses the latest version of WooCommerce core and the default Storefront theme, as guest checkout seems to be working as expected.
Do you recall what exactly updated on your site prior to this issue popping up?
Also, please can you share the following so that we can have a better understanding of your site’s current environment:

I use a child theme of Astra Pro. I had a bunch of updates to run when I returned from vacation, including themes and woocommerce plugins, so it’s hard to tell which one is causing this. It looks like the email field got separated from the rest of checkout, but what bothers me is the placeholder “username” since I don’t give my customers the option to create accounts. I feel like this will deter buyers if they think they need an account to order.
