    Hi ibericode team,

we are using the latest (free) version of the “MailChimp for WordPress” and “MailChimp User Sync” plugins to sync our Tough Mudder training program participants that our users in WordPress to MailChimp.

We launched yesterday and about 25% of our users don’t get synced to MaiLChimp because of the following error:
    example:
[2017-01-11 12:03:01] ERROR: User Sync > Error subscribing or updating user 1987: Bad Request. schw*****@gm*.de has signed up to a lot of lists very recently; we’re not allowing more signups for now

I don’t think that 25% of our users have “signed up to a lot of lists very recently”.

Anyone having the same problem? Can you help us with that issue.

    Best regards
    Bastian

    Hi guys,

I did some research and I think that this problem maybe occurs because the User Sync plugin sends to many requests per email address to the server if there are a lot of update_user_meta() statements in the user creation code.

Is this possible? And if so can I turn the auto-sync off and install a time based sync instead (e.g. every 5 minutes). Some kind of command to use in a cronjob would be sufficient.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Best regards
    Bastian

I am having the same issue except it is sending me confirmation emails as if I keep signing up for my own list. Help!

    Hi singlemomsd2013,

we now have the premium version of the MailChimp for WordPress plugin and I sent in a support email. They are investigating the problem. Seems like it is some plugin issue if we are not the only ones having that problem.

I hope they fix it fast. Our users get tons of optin confirmation emails too.

    Best regards

    Hey there,

We are currently looking into this in detail, there seem to have been some changes on MailChimp’s side of things which we have to work around. We hope to be able to find the culprit and push out a release later this week.

By the way, did you ever get an explanation of this error message?

    Hi dobesv,

somehow the plugin sent too many requests to MailChimp. They fixed it with an update so there should be no problem if you are using the latest version.
