I disabled User Switching in favor of “View as” feature… I was hoping to remove one plugin I use to see what a client sees. So one plugin less! Unfortunately, it seems to behave differently. I don’t see the backend menu like in a “true” switch… some menus are still visible etc. I really hoped this can be on pair or is this an entirely different approach. I am not really switching a user, am I? If so can you explain why I am seeing some menus an editor shouldn’t see and what I am doing wrong? Best regards.

Another detail I came across. I am not sure how others feel… I really like the notice feature, but it is not really glanceable. I mean, I have to click on it, and it has an animation and requires closing. I personally would like an optional mouse over to quickly see what is in notices. Clicks still available for accessibility, I guess. The animation is rather distracting.

@max-ziebell “View as User Role” is not the same as “User Switching”. It switches, well, the user role, and not the user account. I haven’t tested it extensively in comparison with User Switching, but if there are no ‘capabilities’ modified specifically for an ‘editor’ user account, then it should, in theory, behave as if you’re switching to an ‘editor’ user account (not just an ‘editor’ role). If you can help test further, make comparisons (and screenshot them), that would help. Another note, I should probably mark this as ‘beta’, as there’s likely a bug or two hidden somewhere. Please use with care. Always switch back to the administrator role once you’re done “viewing as”.

Your suggestion for the “Hide admin notices” is noted for now. I understand you’re deep into the (web) animation realm, so I understand your concern. I’ll probably wait for similar feedback before I’d change/remove the animation. Hope this is something you can understand.

    Thanks again for the feedback!

I understand although removing the animation was just a suggestion to increase glanceable contents in a mouse hover state (that was the actual idea). Now it adds extra clicks to have a quick peek at what notifications are collected above.

regards and as always it’s free software… that is already great as is. Just brainstorming things with you.

I just uncommented admin-site-enhancements/assets/js/hide-admin-notices.js to trigger: ‘mouseenter’… thats what I was talking I prefer that, nice.

@max-ziebell awesome! Glad you were able to go into the code and did it yourself. I’ll consider adding an option to “Trigger panel open by mouse hover”. Can you test if ‘tap’ / ‘touch’ still works on mobile / tablet to open the panel?
