• Hi,

First of all, let me congratulate you for sharing this awesome tool. It’s pretty useful for a non-coder like me to achieve new ways to use WordPress as an app framework.

It’s curious, I’m trying to use WordPress to manage a school, much like your demo!

I was going another way but, since I found WPDA I’m really considering adopting it for this task. And it seems faster (more clicks but faster loading, I think).

Two things for now that I still don’t know how to achieve is to have a Student record (we need to have a printed student record for our Course physical file) and an attendance record.

I was working with the regular WordPress user record, with a customized author.php template for the frontend. I used ACF to attach custom fields to User, and display them in the frontend view. How can I achieve a similar result with WPDA to manage students, any idea?

Student attendance management is also something I’m not sure how to achieve. I don’t need the student to register it’s attendance. Someone will regularly fill in the data for the whole class, but it should be a friendly task. I don’t see how it can be done but one student at a time.

Am I asking too much of WPDA? ??

    Thanks.

    Hi Alvaro,

Thank you for your compliments! ??

Not sure if I understand your custom user fields solution correctly, but I guess you want to add your own fields to the standard WordPress user form? Is that correct?

Personally, I’d suggest to create your own user table and pages and link to the wp_users table though the user id. It gives you more control when it comes to maintenance and development and easier to for example move to another server. If you mess things up, WordPress will continue to work. Better safe than sorry! Anyway, you have choices, and having choices is always good… ??

Attendance is a more complex. You don’t want to enter attendance data one at a time, so you’ll need a form in which you can edit multiple rows, like an Excel sheet. Or another solutions…?

Together with a Dutch school I’m working on a Dutch school management system. They have similar issues we’re working on. Maybe you can benefit from our ideas and solutions…?

If you sent me a message through the plugin website and leave your email address we can continue this discussion in private!?

    Best regards,
    Peter
