• #1 I wish to set up user role to only Edit SPECIFIC Widgets. These are the steps I’ve attempted.

    a. User Role Editor:

    enabled edit_them_options

    b. In Admin menu for “user role” I blocked:
    Dashboard
    Themes
    Customize
    Menus

I’ve downloaded the Admin Menu Editor and created a menu role for ‘widgets.php’:

    Widgets with Extra Capability: it-user

When logged in as the user, I see ‘Appearance, Widgets (Themes, Customize, Widgets, and Menus)’. The user role is still able to access ‘Customize’. So I’m rather confused why the menus are visible and how is it the user is still able to access ‘Customize’.

#2 How can I create the user role to only get access to a specific widget?

Any step-by-step tutorials on how to accomplish this with the use of either or both plugins?

    Hi,

This video shows how to restrict access to the only “Widgets” menu item under “Appearance” menu and remove 2 widgets “Calendar” and “Categories” from the list of available widgets for this specific role.
Role has 2 capabilities: read, edit_theme_options

2 add-ons are used: “Admin Menu Access” and “Widgets Admin Access“.

Use “Admin Menu Editor” with URE Pro carefully. They play in same field with admin menu and it’s easy to mess the things.

I recommend you to ask questions related to Pro version at special forums: https://www.role-editor.com/forums

    Thank you, Vladimir.

The video was very helpful. So now I will deal with trying to work with the Menu Editor correctly.
