User Registration with Automatic Approval

Yea, you’ve probably got the ‘Enable Account Verification’ setting turned ON. Please deactivate it.

Setting “Enable Account Verification” to YES will send verification emails to new users when they Register. An Administrator will then need to approve the user before they can use the site. On approval, users will receive another email letting them know they can use the site.

Setting “Enable Account Verification” to NO, users will be automatically validated upon registration and can use the site immediately.

But if I set “Enable Account Verification” to NO, would the newly registered users receive an email, where they should click in order to activate the account? I want this, since I need to confirm that the person has a real email.

Otherwise, I would like to remove the part where the administrator approves each account manually.

Yes, they will receive the email with a link to confirm their address.

I will make sure the description of the option is better phrased in the upcoming 1.6.2 release.

No, sorry. There might be 3rd party plugins that send notifications when someone registers, but PeepSo doesn’t do that. Sorry.

To be honest, personally I don’t see the point of even having that as an option. I pretty much consider this ‘spam’. Sending an email to an admin about every single registration is not really, uhm… great.

As for technical reasons, for example many shared hostings (if not all of them) have set limits on the amount of emails that can be sent in an hour/day/month. Every single email that comes out of your website counts. With every single registration that’s one more email that needs to be sent to an admin (or admins if all should be notified). One email doesn’t seem like a lot, but if you combine it with all the other notification emails that can come out of PeepSo itself (not to mention others sent from your site) might just be enough to hit the limit.

When that happens, no email will go out of your website, no new user registration confirmation links etc.

We’re trying to conserve as much server and site resources as possible, taking into account some inexperienced users who might not even be aware of limitations like the one I mentioned above.

There’s a bunch more reasons that I could list here, but I think it’s rather understandable why we won’t be doing that. I hope that explains it.
