User Registration and Subscriber role

  • Hi Guys,

    Just a general question.

    I have a self-hosted wordpress blog. I have been struggling to imagine what the advantages of user registration are, for a “standard” user? (Subscriber role).

    There is no automatic email notification of new posts, and user can subscribe to updates via RSS anyway.

    Am I missing something?

  • Mostly for commenting without having to re-enter email particulars (if you require email for commenting). Presumably you could install other apps (gallery, etc.) and somehow use single signon for all of them?
