User passwords not working after moving site

  • Hi everyone,

    I’m working on a production wordpress install to make major upgrades to my site (wordpress version, theme, plugins…) but everytime I import the live database (I import it into the new production database to use) to test, the passwords do not work and i have to reset them with forgotten passwords. Problem is i have many contributors and do not want them to have to do so.

    Does anyone know why the passwords don’t work?

    Linking me back to my original post that I’m thinking is more appropriate in this cateogry isn’t really friendly and doesn’t really help in terms of a solution to my problem…

    how do you know I did that for your benefit? assume much?

    is there a specific reason that you are re-importing the 2 tables that include user related stuff? or are you doing it, just because…

    what version are you upgrading from?

    Well I certainly didn’t assume that you were doing it for my benefit since I implied the opposite… ??

    I’m going from 2.5 to 2.7.1. I have a bunch of users who contribute content to the site continuously and hence would appreciate not having to ask them to reset their passwords when i finally commit my major changes. As a result i’m moving the whole database (including the user tables) but the passwords don’t seem to match…
