I would like (and expected) it to use the name and email address of the currently logged in user for the sender details. But if I leave the fixed “Email From/Reply-To Name” and “Email From Address” empty in the settings, it defaults to the “WordPress” as name and [email protected] as email address. Can this be changed so that it uses the currently logged in user details?

@aklaren Using current users details may sometime leads to unexpected bugs on SMTP providers so for better delivery, its advisable to use one Email from address or use whatever WordPress provides by default. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking about that too, but I believe this does not have to be a problem if the users that are allowed to send mass mailings all have email addresses on the same domain (e.g. mydomain.com). We basically want to be able to send mailings from up to 10 different senders (e.g. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]). Each sender is responsible for its own mailings and will receive the replies to these mailings. Our WordPress site is a closed user group of about 100 people. So it would be great if you could make it so that if the “Email From/Reply-To Name” and/or “Email From Address”?are not filled in, you use the user’s name and/or email address instead of hardcoded (?) “WordPress” and [email protected]. Thanks.

You could even show a warning when a user with an email address from a different domain wants to send a mailing while the “Email From Address”?is not filled in ??

@aklaren I am planning to add an action that will be able to alter email headers in coming releases. This will give end user the ability to modify emails headers as they want. You would be able to leverage this action to do whatever you want with email headers. I cannot give you a fix timeline on when this will happen but keep an eye out for updates as this feature is top of my implementation list. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for the annoucement. I still think you should show a warning if the “Email From Address”?is not filled as nobody will want the mail to be sent bij “WordPress <[email protected]>”. Then you might as well use the name and email address of the logged in user and give a warning if it is on a different domain. Optionally only offer this in the pro version.

Warning might be a good idea to let users know that they are yet to add Email From address. Thanks.
