• I elected to receive email notifications from Wordfence if an attempt was made to log into my site using an invalid username, and they’ve been coming in from all around the world.

I’m not deeply tech savvy–I do my best with what I know. I decided to start blocking the IP addresses of all these attempts. At first, a couple of months ago, that seemed to slow it down a bit. In the last couple of weeks I have been inundated with these messages.

    So, several questions:

    1. What is causing all of this? WHY on earth would someone in Germany want to log into the administrative area of my local community church? This website doesn’t even HAVE a login feature.

    2. Is there some way to STOP these attempts? Blocking IP addresses isn’t doing it.

    3. Can I safely IGNORE this issue and just stop the notifications from coming? I’m tempted to just turn off the notices, but I need to know that my site will not be at risk.

I should add that I do have a login name that is NOT “admin.” I have UNSELECTED “Anyone can register” in the admin settings. There are no false Users on my site, just me.

Thank you for any and all advice you can offer!
