User List by Role not Alpha

Hi, how come my User list is not coming up in Alpha order? Well it is alpha order on each page, but not complete alpha order for the entire population. I hope that made sense. It almost seems like it took the first 50 registered users and alphas them on page 1, then it does the next 50, etc. How can I get it to alpha them all properly?
