User Links on Search

    Hi there,

    I’m wondering if this is a small bug or if you can please help me. If I go to the ALL Users admin page in WordPress I can edit a user and add them to groups no problem. However, if I search for a user and then try to edit the user or try and add the user to a group, I get redirected to the home page.

    The Edit User URL is very different when the search results display. I know that it’s an issue with Groups because when I switch off the plugin the Edit User functionality works fine.

    Also note that I can’t add a user to any groups when I search for the user in WordPress.

    I have version 1.4.15 of Groups and it’s the only Plugin activated if you need to replicate…

    Hi there,

    I’ve done some more debugging and have singled out the NONCE as the potential issue…. If I remove the hidden field and the verification the remove and add functions work fine after we’ve searched for a user and edited their groups…

    Line 190 puts that field in and line 254 verifies it… Not sure why this is the problem? I need a quick fix to get this functionality working again for my client but would be good to sort out why that’s happening…

    Actually now that wasn’t a solution I’m afraid… It turns out one user in particular can’t be edited, while others can… Trying to work out why still…

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update on that, please let me know what you find out – I’ve seen your topic yesterday and did a quick test to see if that happened on a test site but it didn’t, although the user base was rather small on that installation.

    Do you have any other plugins installed that might be adding to the admin URL on the Users screen?

    Hey There,

    Okay I have got a little further… It seems to be a conflict between Groups and bbPress… I just tried opened a brand new testing site and installed the latest bbPress plugin, 2.5.7, I tested the User editing after searching (I only have 2 users but still searched) and that worked fine.

    Then I installed the latest Groups plugin 1.5.1 and searched for a user again and clicked to “Edit” that user and got taken to the Home Page again…

    So I guess the questions is, is anyone else using the Groups plugin with bbPress and having similar issues?

    I’ll send it bbPresses way as well…

    Interestingly I deactivated Groups on the new setup and the redirect works again… I think the form fields in the Bulk Edit section are somehow causing some issues…

    This is all good! Turns out it was a mod_security issue on the server! Thanks for replying anyway! And thanks for a great plugin!
