User-Level Access Issues + Deactivation Removed Functionality

I just installed BP Better Messages on an Elementor Pro site with bbPress + BuddyPress and a custom Astra Pro theme. I am running the latest version of everything (BP Better Messages is at 1.9.8.59).

I was hoping BP Better Messages would address a user-level access issue that was occurring in BuddyPress Messages. For admin users, the Inbox, Starred, and Sent boxes all display as expected, as does the Compose box. For subscribers/members, however, these sections are all blank. Similarly, the Activity panel does not display the What’s up box for subscribers but does for admin. I have been unable to determine why subscribers do not have access to the Messages features when the whole point is to enable subscribers/members to communicate with each other! (If you have any clue as to why this may be occurring and how to fix it, please let me know! ??

UPDATE: I am removing my original questions because I discovered the causes for the issues. I now have BP Messages reactivated and am testing out functionality. I will follow up if I have further questions ??
