    Hello.

    We are interested in using the the Users own Home Directory facility. However, when we enable it although users directory shows it is impossible for them to add files to it. We can find no setting to make it writable? can you tell us how we do it?
    Thanks.

    @barcomebeboy,

    You can’t make user home directory writable from file manager. You have to do it form your cPanel.

    The owner of the file should be www-data and the permission must be at least 0755.

    Thanks

    Thanks Aihmel.
    I’m a little confused though. Normally a user’s home directory would be for their own use. Either for them to keep files in or for others to put files in for them to access. If this is not the case with Filemanager what is a user’s home directory for? As it stands I can’t see that it has any useful purpose.

    @barcombeboy,

    File manager is to manipulate files inside your wordpress installation. It is mostly for admin/developers. If you want to make it useful for your users then you can try out our extensions.

    Thanks

    Ah, we are using as an Extranet for one of our clients. It has 365 users and (so far) works very well indeed and does exactly what we require of it. I’ll have a look at the extensions. I’ve not been aware of them up till now.
