User group creation advice sought

I help organize tech training in a small, remote community in NE Minnesota. We have a great trainer who occasionally travels here from 150 miles away to provide training in WordPress. But those who attend his training have indicated they would like an ongoing user group through which they can help each other. I want to facilitate creation of such a group for them. Am looking for advice on how to go about creating a group that would stand a good chance of success and sustainability. I would not be a member of the group (I am not schooled in WordPress). I can provide a place to meet, wireless internet faster than most have at home (most of our area is on dial-up or satellite still; broadband coming), a computer lab, coffee and treats, encouragement, etc. Want also to provide guide to best online resources for becoming proficient in WordPress.
