User generated content – users create a post

  • Hi!
    I am running a community website that post job ads. I would like to let my registered users (right now they are under subscriber permittion) the ability to write a CV in a special form with text editor and the content will be posted to in a special category.

    I already created a page with a form that allows users to write a CV and the information is sent as one of the blank users I created and stored as draft.
    Problem is that I want to let the users the ability to edit the CV later.
    I thought about switching their status to contributer but then they can login to the admin and do some changes in general that I don’t wish they do.

    To make a long story short, is there any documantation for such thing or a plugin?

    You should consider using a Role/Capability managing plugin. There are several out there. I use Role Manager on my blogs, but there is also Capability Manager. With any of those plugins, you would be able to control exactly what capabilities each role can perform, as well as to create custom roles.

    No, I am still looking for a solution.
    The plugin you suggested isn’t relevant for my project.

    I think I understand a little better what you are looking for. However, the way that WP works is that registered users have access to the backend. You can block access to the Dashboard, but they would still be able to see (and edit) their profiles.
    The plugins (plural) I had suggested help you customize exactly what capabilities (permissions) user roles and individual users have, so you could enable them to edit their pages but not others’.
    Basically, if you want to use WP Users for your project, you need to give these plugins a thorough try. I am not familiar with any other plugins or tools that could allow users to edit certain content while keeping them completely at bay from the Admin Panel.
