• Is there a way (perhaps via a plug-in) that I can allow a user to edit pages only (ideally eliminating the post-related buttons from view for this user)? I’m toying with using WordPress for a more-or-less static non-blog site and would like to give the user the ability to edit static pages only. Sort of like Author status now (if I’m recalling the user level correctly) except for pages rather than posts.

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • You might try the Role Manager Plugin

I tried to do this with the role manager, but wordpress does not handle Pages in the same way that it does Posts.
for example you do not seem to be able to set the same type of rights for pages as posts.
This is really anoying for me, as I was trying to do something very similar to you in that I wanted to give authors rights to edit a page that they are marked as the author for, and that page only, but there is no way to assign page edit rights, if you do that person can also create NEW pages, and there is no way to turn that off.

Someone correct me please, as I would like to do this too

I just stumbled on the same problem myself. This should be fixed in WP 2.1. See this page for some code that may help in the meantime:
