User edit redirects to one post

    First – I love this plugin and we use it all over in the site. I have a custom post type (teacher) that has the teacher’s bio. I add the teachers’ bio to their classes and blog posts using this plugin. Works great.

    A few weeks ago, we developed a problem where I could only edit one post, let’s call it “Class A”. If I try to edit a teacher, I go to Class A. If I try to add a new blog post, it is pre-populated with Class A.

    It took me a while to narrow this down – it only happens to me and one other admin. If I create a new admin user, I can edit as normal. No matter what either of us edit while logged in as our usual accounts, we get Class A.

    Thoughts of what I could check?

    We’ve narrowed it down to this plugin. With it disabled, we can edit as normal. With it enabled, we can’t.

    There are no errors logged as the site seems to think that this is appropriate behavior???

    Have you seen anything like this before?

    Weird! Can you try setting “Insert method” to “normal” instead of “legacy” in Settings > Insert Pages, and see if that changes anything?

    I’ve never heard of this, but if that doesn’t work we can investigate further.

    Haha, great! Sorry about that, lately we’ve found that the legacy insert method is not working great, likely some security-related changes in WordPress core have made it more unstable. Glad the other method is working for you!

    It is terrible that I never think to even look at these settings. I’ll try to remember if there is ever a next time. But this plugin has been SO STABLE and SO USEFUL for so long… I’d never even thought of checking for settings.

    Seriously, it is making my life so much easier. When I realized this was the plugin, I thought, “well…I’ll be living with this bug…” because it is everywhere on the site.

    Given that I use it for teacher’s bios, etc. It makes it so much easier to just change one place and have everything update.

    Thanks! We built it for a similar situation (we’re in higher education) almost 10 years ago. Still running strong, love WordPress as a platform!
