• Hi – I have the Google SiteKit plugin active on both of my websites and everything has been working normally until a few days ago, the following error has started to appear in various sections of the dashboard…

“User does not have sufficient permission for site…”

I haven’t changed anything in terms of Google user permissions at all, so just wondering if anyone else has encountered this recently and how to resolve it.

    Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out, hopefully we can assist and ensure you can view your Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboards. If you’d like to share the following we can hopefully determine the cause:

    1. Are you encountering this same notice on both sites or just one?
    2. Your Site Health information on a site where this notice appears. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    3. Have you tried to disconnect the Analytics property and connect once more?

Once we know of the above we can advise on this further. If you have more than one WordPress administrator it may be a case another user connected Analytics with their own Analytics property, a property which you may not have access to.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi James,
Thanks for your reply. I am getting this issue on both of my websites and it started at the same time.
I haven’t tried disconnecting the Analytics property and reconnecting it. If you could let me know how to do that I can try it.
I have pasted my site health information report into the form you provided a link for.

Many thanks for sharing. I’ve checked the information you kindly provided and all looks good in relation to your setup. I do see a non Site Kit placed Analytics snippet when checking your site however this references the same Universal Analytic property (example).

Can you try to either remove the non Site Kit placed Analytics snippet or else you can disconnect the Analytics module within Site Kit before connecting once more. To disconnect the Analytics module navigate to “Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit > Disconnect Analytics from Site Kit“. After doing so please connect the module once more.

Note that if you disconnect the Analytics snippet placed via Site Kit it will use the non Site Kit placed snippet to display your data within the Site Kit Analytics dashboards.

Let me know if the same notice appears after following the above.

Hi James, I removed the All In One SEO verification that was linked to Google Analytics and I also followed you steps to disconnect the Google Analytics module within Site Kit and reconnected it, however I am still seeing the same “Data error in Search Console
User does not have sufficient permission for site” error.

Thanks for the update. As you’ve now removed the non Site Kit placed snippet can you try to disconnect the Analytics module before connecting once more?

Let me know how you get on with this. If you encounter the same then there are a few things we can check at Analytics level. If other users have access to the same property it may be permissions related. I’ll also see if I can encounter the same when using the All in One SEO plugin.

Hi James, I disconnected the Analytics module from SiteKit and reconnected it straight after removing the non-SiteKit placed snipped, however am still getting the same error.

Appreciate you performing this additional check. In that case there are a couple of additional checks we can perform. Firstly can you navigate to analytics.google.com and see if you are able to access that property (UA-1791???????). You’ll need to ensure you’re logged into your Analytics account using the same Google account which you’ve used to setup Site Kit.

Once you’ve confirmed you have access to that property with the same Google account used to connect Site Kit you can follow the steps below:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to view your Analytics dashboard within Site Kit once more

Let me know if you have any questions on the above. Hopefully these checks above will help us to determine the cause. Thanks for your troubleshooting efforts so far.

Hi James, I have logged into Google Analytics and can successfully see the data for my UA tag using the same Google account that is used for SiteKit.
I have now also installed and activated the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, I enabled troubleshooting for the SiteKit plugin, yet I still get the same error when I look at the SiteKit dashboard.
All of the above was done in a Chrome Incognito window.

Thanks for the follow up and performing the above checks. As you’ve confirmed you do have access to that property I’m wondering did something go wrong with the permissions or your Site Kit connected profile. With that can you try and disconnect your Google account from Site Kit before connecting once more?

Let me know if you encounter the same after disconnecting.
