    Hello,

I have created Pod for users custom fields and I am using Polylang for translation. I have custom field “gender” using relationship for drop-down list of possible values (relationship is taking values from custom taxonomy “gender” for which all values are translated with polylang).

Pods template for author page displays labels translated ok. But values are not translated, nor copied. Values are shown only for default Croatian language, but for English value values are empty.

Am I missing something? How to have values translated by Pods template and not only labels?

    Hi @vesnama

I’m honestly not sure how Polylang translates user profile fields. I honestly thought this wasn’t supported at all.

Pods translations are merely meant for WP Admin, not front-end usage.

    Oh!
Well, Polylang translates in admin Pods labels, and when you go to edit post in different languages Pods fields have translated labels and for values content can be entered in current language. Then when you, like me, use Pods template which Polylang offers to be translated then in front-end posts are displaying labels and values in current language.

But, with user data things are a bit different. I have created extended User pod with custom fields and Pod template for user public profile. This Pod template is (same as Pods template for posts) offered by Polylang to be translated so I created Pod template for user profile for different languages and labels are translated successfully in front-end. But, wordpress doesn’t offer for user profile via admin to translate values for user’s Pods custom fields. What should I do to be able to enter in user admin different translations for values for Pods custom fields? Maybe a totally new user admin page can be created by Pods for Pods custom fields and languages with a Pods templates as it is possible for posts?

    Hi @vesnama

So far as I know Polylang doesn’t translate Pod labels, Pods does, unless you use another method ??

Users are simply not translatable as far as I know.
The only way I can think of is to create separate duplicate fields for each language.
I believe Polylang does the same for the user biography.

This is more a question you should ask the Polylang developers, not Pods.

Oh, I was afraid that users are not translatable ??

This is my solution, maybe useful for someone alse…

I create Pod extending user only with custom fields which do not need translation (like date or image fields). This Pod has Pod template (translated using Polylang in my case).
I create new custom Pod named authors with relationship field bidirectional relating to the Pod users. In this Pod authors I create all custom fields that need translations (for example favorite food, hobbies, cv…). And then for Pod user template I add fields from this Pod author and this way I have functioning public authors/users profile page with custom fields translatable in languages.

You can close this topic ??

    Hi @vesnama

That would indeed be the best solution, thanks for sharing!
