    Hello all,

We created an Admin user from the dashboard but received an email from the plugin that says:

    “High Severity Problems:
An admin user with the username xxxxxxxx was created outside of WordPress.”

Why is this high severity when it was created from inside of WordPress?

    TIA.

Hi @pmycroft, thanks for reaching out.

The feature is intended to find admins created either outside of the WordPress admin UI, or outside of the way plugins typically create them by using WordPress’ own built-in functions. If the users are being created by a user management plugin that uses another method to insert the records into the database, then it could report each new admin user in this way.

If you have over 10,000 users or this site is part of a large WordPress multisite installation, there is a possibility that the user legitimacy check was skipped but the new admin user has still been detected.

As it coincides with a known action you can try ignoring the notice as it’s clearly a false-positive but if the behavior continues to return, I would be more than happy to look into it a little deeper for you.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

    Okay, thanks.

Certainly, an odd one as it was created by myself (I am an Admin) and was a new user.

    All the best,
    ~ Paul

Thanks @pmycroft, I will leave this ticket open for approximately 7 days in case this wasn’t a one-off so we can pick up where we left off.
