User configured widget locations?

So thinking of creating a new intranet site for my company and right now we have a home page with different widgets, i.e. Top Links, Stories, Twitter Feed, etc.

Looking to be pointed in the right direction that would allow a user to re-order them on their own home page or select additional widgets to their home page from the front end.
