User can register with a weak password

This is a bad idea.
From a user perspective, I would certainly avoid making purchases from site that don’t enforce strong passwords.

Of course the Client wants this – client wants to make this as easy for his customers as possible. Now envision the conversation you’ll be having with them a year from now after his site has been hacked, etc, etc.

The client hired you as their web developer.
You are the subject matter expert.
Your role is to outline why the website needs to enforce strong passwords.
Make sure you have a good SLA when you deliver the site!!! ??
