I’ve maintained a my own website and set up a couple of business websites using WordPress. I’ve always loved it, tried some other systems and couldn’t get the hang of them.

If I set up WordPress to allow other people to register as subscribers, what does that mean?

Will they be able to see each others information?

and will they be able to see their order history if they have used a shopping cart?

Is a shopping cart through WordPress secure?

    Thanks for the help ??

  • If I set up WordPress to allow other people to register as subscribers, what does that mean?

Not a lot – to be honest. I do wonder why some people bother other than showing that they are a follower of your blog.

Will they be able to see each others information?

Nope. All they can see is their own profile and nothing else. Zilch. Nada.

and will they be able to see their order history if they have used a shopping cart?

That does depend upon the cart that you decide to use. Some do provide a My Orders page (or similar). Some may not. I can only state with certainty that eShop offers this kind of extra functionality.

Is a shopping cart through WordPress secure?

No. Security depends – not so much on the application – but on the server protocol that you use. A secure server uses https and requires the purchase of an SSL certificate. Not all ecommerce plugins support https. Some, instead, redirect the customer to a secure 3rd party merchant gateway (like PayPal) of the actual credit card stuff and then notify the ecommerce plugin/site that a successful payment has been made.
