Thanks a lot… ??
I thought this to be a good tool to check your WordPress installation and NOT a tool that will force you reinstall WordPress. Useless piece of trash

I’m sorry you had problems with your installation and this plugin. I just want to comment about this review.

I have taken the liberty to remove your tag “trash”. Try to refrain from that as it’s not really helpful.
This is not really a review, though at least you’ve expressed how you feel. The Health Check plugin is a tool to help people solve problems with their WordPress installation. Nothing in it should cause an installation to need to be re-installed from scratch.
You did have a bad experience, no one questions that, but if you could explain what you did, what your WordPress setup is like then your bad review may help the authors find if there is a problem in the plugin that needs to be addressed.
Hi Jan
First of all, it was a dev site, a lot of work I’ve put into it (create posts, products, sliders, categories, tags, etc) and I saw this plugin on the plugins page and I thought I’d give it a try, giving the dev environment.
I’ve installed and activated then clicked the Troubleshoot mode. I didn’t expect to get an Internal Server error which almost gave me a heart attack because I didn’t get to commit my changes. Luckily, your great plugin didn’t erase anything, just a lot of errors in the debug.log. Something about not finding custom-header.php or something.
It might be worth mentioning I was working on a theme, and no, I don’t have that file in my theme folder.
I thought I’d delete the plugin and things will get back to normal… riiiight… the same errors kept popping up in the log file. I even restarted Apache server, but that didn’t help either.
Once I deleted the plugin, there was a message in the admin area saying that I don’t have a default theme or something, while I had 2017 installed…
Anyhow, your plugin just made me erase the db and reinstall, so thanks a bunch, again.
The “crap” was too nice a word, but I get it, it’s not helpful… same as your plugin, I might add.
It’s not my plugin. I have not contributed any code to this but I do review the reviews. Stop with the name calling, that has a short life time in these forums.
Anyhow, your plugin just made me erase the db and reinstall, so thanks a bunch, again.
There’s also a mu-component that needs to be removed as well.Again, I’m sorry you had a bad time of it but here’s what you described.
- You had a problem while doing some development on a dev site.
- Among other things you installed this plugin
- Bad things continued to happen to you.
- You blamed this plugin while working on a theme on a dev site.
- You didn’t look too far into the problem and decided to nuke your dev site instead.
All of which is fine. Not everyone knows how to or is willing to troubleshoot their problems. But you really didn’t need to nuke your DB and in a live environment I don’t think you’d leap to that step.
I mean, you could but I assume your live environment has value. I’d hope you’d be able to work out your development problems.
If you needed help or even want to troubleshoot then please consider helping the community with a support topic.

Or not, that’s your call. People do read the reviews including 1 star reviews and can draw their own conclusions.
Hi, Jan
I didn’t look too much into that problem because I didn’t have time to loose reading and understanding a code that wasn’t mine.
My mistake was to assume that that plugin would actually work fine, so yes, I didn’t spend time reading the reviews. That was my mistake.
It was a local website not a live one, if it were a live one I would have killed myself, but a local dev environment can be re-build, even though the effort I’ve put into it is now history…
It was also pointless to leave my review. It wasn’t helpful and it sure did not help anyone. Again, my bad.
I hope you will have a nice weekend!
Regards,
CostinIt was helpful to me. Someone just recommended I use this to debug why one of their plugins isn’t working. The stream of recent reviews that indicate it renders their sites inoperable stopped me doing so.
Perhaps the authors & supporters of this plugin should factor in these responses into their use cases and requirements specs, and thence their code, going forward; rather than worrying about the particular undiplomatic way in which people respond to said resulting inoperation.
Hiya,
It does sound like you’ve encountered a bug which sometimes springs up when using a child theme on a website (judging by the error you described). We’ve actually been tracking this issue on our support forums, and actively working on the fix to it (the fruits of that labor are part of the version 1.2.0 release that we pushed live a few minutes ago).
I do apologize for the bad experience you had, we do strive to provide a good time for all, but there is, unfortunately, always the possibility of edge cases that we can’t account for, even though we do our best to think of everything. In those cases we depend on user feedback to make improvements and changes.
I wouldn’t say that leaving your review was pointless at all, if anything it was insightful. Based on it, we’ve added a new FAQ section on how to leave Troubleshooting Mode in the odd case where one might be stuck like you were. This will hopefully help others in the future if they should find them selves stuck, so thank you!
@yugensoft, I’m sorry to hear you find the other negative reviews disheartening and don’t feel comfortable using the plugin because of them. I would like to make the counter argument that in each of those cases we do ask them what went wrong, and ask for more information, but are often never presented with any followup. Feel free to peruse the support forum as well, where we’ve been keeping the dialogue going while tracking down the bug mentioned earlier here though. I, personally, feel it at least shows good faith and good spirits when there’s good interactions between all parties ??
