I ran a performance report from GTMetrix.com before installing Smush. Full load time was 1.27 seconds. Then I used Smush to fix the images it found (about 50 of them). I ran the scan several times again and now Full Load time is 2.9 seconds.

Why would it go up if I optimized image size?

Is there a way to reset them to the size they were before I used the plugin?

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hi @needsomewphelp,

Are you, by any chance, using JetPack Photon? Could you please try to disable it and run the test again? I see that the images that are causing so much load times, are actually loaded from WordPress servers.

    Best regards,
    Anton

Hi Anton, thank you for getting back to me. I use regular basic (free) JetPack, but ran the GT Metrix test again last night and things seem to be back to normal (~ 1.8 seconds)
