    Hi

I know there are many topics already about this issue, however I’ve checked all that support provided on my csv and I still don’t get the issue.

When bulk importing products with CSV file, the “used for variations” aren’t checked BUT the issue didn’t occur for all the variable products I’ve uploaded (on the same sheet). Half of the products were imported correctly, the others were not. I cannot find ANY difference in those products on the sheet.

    I’ve checked the following:
    any duplicate SKU’s – none

“Attribute name” : Size (this is correct)

“Attribute 1 visible” is 1 for all. With my previous import I only added 1 in the parent. BUT I’ve added 1 in all variations’ “attribute 1 visible”, and no change.

“Attribute 1 global” was 0 , I’ve changed that to 1. Still no difference.

“Attribute 1 default” has small in parent.

    Positions are entered.

It wouldn’t make sense that I’m missing a column. I have 350 products using this same sheet with the same values. And some products with this import worked.

I’ve manually fixed the products. But for the test, I deleted one error product, make changes to sheet and import again. No luck. Various tries.

    PLEASE HELP.

Not sure how to add the csv file as example??

  • Hi @minamooi

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that the field Used for Variations is not checked for some products when bulk importing/updating products via CSV, correct?

Can you please share how are you importing products to your site via CSV? If you are using the built-in Product CSV Importer and Exporter, I trust that you’ve followed the instructions for creating the CSV file, correct?

If so, please share with us the CSV file you are using here for us to check this further. You can share it using any cloud service and paste the link here.

Otherwise, if this was added thru a third-party plugin or a custom code, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

    Thanks!

Good morning, thank you very much for the response.

“I understand that the field?Used for Variations?is not checked for some products when bulk importing/updating products via CSV, correct?” CORRECT

“Can you please share how are you importing products to your site via CSV? If you are using the built-in?Product CSV Importer and Exporter, I trust that you’ve followed the instructions for creating the CSV file, correct?” I’m using the built-in importer/exporter. Checked the file against it, also exported an existing working product, and worked with that file.

If so, please share with us the CSV file you are using here for us to check this further. You can share it using any cloud service and paste the link here. Please find the complete import CSV & Excel versions of the sheet here: https://we.tl/t-5xK01v76YS

The green are the ones that didn’t import. Changes and tests were made as described above. The clear items are imported 100%, on the same import. That is where the funny part comes in for me.

    Thank you for your assistance!

    Hi @minamooi

Thanks for your confirmation in all of my questions above.

The green are the ones that didn’t import. Changes and tests were made as described above. The clear items are imported 100%, on the same import. That is where the funny part comes in for me.

I am opening this Copy of March stock drop Lizanzi.xlsx file and I can see the 48 green rows that you mentioned here. I copied and pasted it on a CSV file, upload it on my personal site and I was able to import all these products successfully as you can see below:

Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled and try to import the CSV file that I created and see if the import will be successful?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Thank you for your detailed response and the links.

You will see that “out of stock” notice and no price and no cost indicated the items didn’t import correctly. It should say “in stock”, and give info in Price & Cost. Can you select a size on the single product shop with these products? (frontend)

My products also import, but they aren’t shoppable on the front end, as you can’t select sizes.

It seems to me that the CSV is also not correctly importing on your site. Please screenshot the single product page on the frontend, as well as these parts in the backend:

The second screenshot shows you how the products should look once imported.

    Hello @minamooi,

As per the documentation, you need to link the parent product SKU to all variations in the Parent column.

If a product doesn’t have an SKU, you can use its id like this id:801.

Can you please try adding IDs for all variations and as well as making sure all columns are mapped correctly?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hello

All my products have SKU’s and ID’s? Please see the screenshot:

Checked the columns, and they also match.

I’ve also created a brand new sheet, and the error persists. Product is imported, but “Used for variations” isn’t ticked and can’t therefore select a size on the frontend.

    Please find that sheet here:

Can you see something wrong on this sheet, perhaps?

    Hi,

I recommend creating the variable product in WooCommerce first, once it is created and working according to your needs (Adding the attributes, variations, etc.), make sure to export that product.

That will generate a CSV file with the correct data, then you can use it as a template to import or edit the rest of the products.

    Hope this helps.

    Good morning,
Yes, this has been tried as stated. I exported a working product, compared the CSV files, and found no difference.

    Will try it again.

Did you find any errors in the previous files perhaps? Because even the brand new one I uploaded doesn’t work.

    Hello @minamooi,

Yes, this has been tried as stated. I exported a working product, compared the CSV files, and found no difference.

You can use this file from my test site as a starting point: https://d.pr/f/QQImWH

Also, could you please confirm if you’ve already tried disabling all plugins as well as switching to Storefront?

Furthermore, please make sure you’re mapping the correct product column to the one in the CSV epically the Parent column.

    Hi
Apologies for so long to respond. I’m just helping out a client, so needed to schedule this between my other work. I (think) I found the issue.

No, I didn’t try the default storefront.
    Yes, mapping was correct.

It seems that the issue was outdated plugins. I updated all the plugins for the client, and tested the import again, and it worked. After spending various hours on all the solutions provided, I realised that all the points mentions are done correctly on my sheet and steps followed to import. So the issue was with the plugins.

Thank you for all your assistance. I still learned a lot and saw what is important to look out for on an import sheet.

    Hi,
    Glad to hear that.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved.

If you have a few minutes, we’d love it if you could share your experience with the community by leaving a review.

    Kind regards.
