Is it possible to use this plugin withOUT giving monsterinsights the permission to view and manage my google analytics data?

The setup screen prompts me to grant this access to MonsterInsights – something I’m not comfortable doing. I just want this plugin to assist with putting tracking codes on pages and tracking events/downloads, but cannot give monsterinsights any actual access to my data.

    thanks!

    Hi there,
Right underneath the authenticate with MonsterInsights button there’s a link to do the manual authentication. Using this you can insert the UA code. Most tracking can be done using this (though if you’re using our paid version, some of our paid addons will not work with this method). Note, without authenticating, without the grant of permissiosn the plugin cannot retrieve data from GA for the reports, so you won’t be able to use any of the reporting dashboard functionality of the plugin.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve tried several times to enter the ‘UA-XXXXXXXXX-1’ code into that box, and it always tells me “Bad Google Code. Please try again.”

I’m just supposed to enter that portion, right? The “UA-XXXXXXXXX-1” id?

    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
It sounds like you’re entering the UA code into the oAuth flow dialog box. The manual UA code is a separate setting entirely.

You’ll want to take a look at option 2 on https://www.monsterinsights.com/docs/connect-google-analytics/ for a step by step guide with where that UA code will go
