• Hello,

If anyone else needs to find a replacement for this discontinued plugin you can use the Widgets on Pages as a replacement. Eventually new widgets should be mostly installable as blocks anyway, but this works with legacy widgets using a shortcode.

It’s not exactly the same but can be used to do the same thing, namely put widgets on pages using a shortcode. Rather than directly adding a shortcode to a widget this plugin lets you create new sidebars, install any widget(s) on that sidebar and then insert that sidebar into a page using a shortcode. So there’s one additional layer of the new sidebar wrapping the widget, but gets the same job done in a slightly different way.

Also, if you just need to put an old widget on a page you can copy and paste it in as a block in Gutenberg, though you may not be able to then edit it. So, in some cases you may not need to go through the trouble of using something like Widgets on Pages, but it’s there if needed.

    RIP amr

Widgets on pages is getting outdated or not maintained further! Can you please suggest any other alternative plugin?

That’s what I’m still using. Looks like the plugin author is still maintaining it. He is still responding on the support forum, with the latest response 2 weeks ago. I guess you could ask on that forum if there will be any more updates.

Please post here if you get a response from him and what his plans are, or if you find another replacement.
